Handling Gear & Training Tools
We do not get any commission or kick backs for any products. We just want to share the items we like and what has worked for us. If you are working with a training group, ask them about their favorite gear and where to get it. You can shop from these sites or look for them online other places and in stores.
Charlee Bear Treats We especially like their Original Crunch and Grain Free Crunch. They fit nicely between your fingers to use for luring. They look big, but they are less then 3 calories. They are 100% Labrador approved. Blue 9 KLIMB Platform. We don’t own one of these yet, but have used them where we train. They are very versatile. Balance Harness for multiple attachment and adjustment options. Propel Air Platform for teaching strength and balance. Bold Lead Designs They have a very nice selection of leather leads, head collars and other gear. I use the Perfect Pace Head Halter from woven material. Their traditional collars are beautiful and well made. Leerburg You could probably spend all day on this site looking at the different items for different dog sports and jobs. I have the Cape Vest for Caramel’s Pet Therapy visits. Pet Safe The Gentle Leader Head Collar and 3 in 1 Harness are my favorites. Look at the Cotton Training Leads for long line/long distance training
Google, or Amazon Search for the following products: 4 foot double handled leash (for obedience and close handling) EXAMPLE 6 foot double handled leash EXAMPLE Water Bottle: These versions allow the water to flow back into the bottle so you don’t have to find a place to dump it if you are indoors. EXAMPLE Training Pouches: Look for a place for your doggie doo baggies, more than one pocket, multiple ways to wear it, and either pop open/close feature or a drawstring. The options are endless. I do not care for the ones that are circular. It is too hard to get my hand in quickly. Here are a few we like. EXAMPLE 1 EXAMPLE 2 Go Bag: This can be a sling bag crossbody or a versatile fanny style pack. Essentially, you would want this to accommodate your treat pouch or extra treats, water bottle, back up leash, doogie doo bags, your phone, keys, wallet, and vaccination records. EXAMPLE
